It can be hard to choose the right SEO plugin for your WordPress blog in 2025, especially since Rank Math and Yoast SEO are at the top of every list of suggestions.
I’ve used both on client sites at Preet Web Vision, and after teaching thousands of beginners through my YouTube channels, Preet Tech Ideas and Preet WebXP, one question keeps coming up:
“Which SEO plugin is easier for new users?”
That’s exactly what this guide and the YouTube video are all about.
I’ll show you the differences, the setup process, how to use it every day, and real insights from the video so you can choose the plugin that makes SEO easier, not harder.
📺 Here is the full video tutorial
Before you read the guide, here’s the full video that shows you how to do it step by step:
You can watch it now or read the blog and look it up when you need to.
Which plugin is easier for beginners: Rank Math or Yoast SEO?
Here is a more detailed, beginner-friendly, and blog-ready version of everything that was said in the video.
A quick look at what each plugin does
Let’s make sure we’re on the same page before we choose which is easier.
Rank Math and Yoast SEO both help you make your WordPress site better by letting you:
- Add titles and descriptions for SEO
- Make XML sitemaps
- Make keywords work better
- Make it easier to read on the page
- Add previews for social media
- Fix problems with technical SEO
- Link your site to Google Search Console
But using them is a very different experience.
Interface and Ease of Use
Rank Math is modern, clean, and easy for beginners to use.
The design of Rank Math is very new and modern, which makes SEO seem less scary. You’ll see how quickly the setup wizard walks you through the following in the tutorial video:
- Site name
- Webmaster tools connections
- Sitemap settings
- Role manager
- Basic schema
It seems like all you have to do is click “Next” and the plugin does the rest.
Why beginners like it:
- Easy to get started
- Easy access to all features
- Clear explanations
- Better layout for the eyes
You can tell that Rank Math was made to be easy to use.
Yoast SEO—A layout that is older and more traditional
Yoast SEO is still a strong tool, but its interface seems a little old compared to Rank Math.
The setup wizard is useful but not as interactive, and many new users find it harder to understand the options when they first open the plugin.
In the video, I talked about a problem that many new users have with Yoast: there are too many settings hidden behind menus, which makes SEO seem harder than it really is.
Setting Up Experience
Setting Up Rank Math
The part of the video that shows how to set up Rank Math is easy to understand and quick.
This is the order shown:
- Connect Rank Math account
- Select Easy / Advanced mode
- Configure website details
- Connect to Google Search Console
- Enable simple modules (Sitemap, Image SEO, FAQ schema)
- Finish setup in under 3 minutes
Beginners usually like the Easy Mode, which automatically sets up Rank Math with the best settings.
Setting up Yoast SEO
The video also shows how to set up Yoast, but it:
- Takes longer
- Includes more text-heavy screens
- Shows fewer automatic recommendations
- Has ads for the premium version on several pages
Not a deal-breaker, but it will take longer and be harder for beginners.
Experience with SEO on the page
This is where the difference really stands out.
Rank Math Editor
Rank Math gives you
- Multiple keyword analysis
- Color-coded score
- Suggestions sorted into clear sections
- Schema setup on the same screen
- Easy social media preview tabs
Beginners will find the score system easier to use because you can “fix things” as you scroll.
Editor for Yoast SEO
Yoast uses
- Green, orange, and red indicators
- A single focus keyword (unless premium)
- Lots of text explanations
It’s fine, but beginners often think it’s too limiting because you can’t optimize more than one keyword unless you pay to upgrade.
Rank Math wins here because it is easy to use and flexible.
Schema Markup (SEO Rich Snippets)
Rank Math:
- Different types of schema
- Simple to change
- Auto-detection for posts
- FAQ and How-To blocks that come with it
Yoast SEO:
- Basic schema
- Customization is limited
- There is a FAQ block.
- You need to pay for or add on to use advanced schema.
The built-in Rank Math schema tools save you a lot of time when you make service pages, tutorials, reviews, or recipes.
Speed and Performance in 2025
This is something I care about at Preet Web Vision, especially for client sites that need to load quickly.
Rank Math: A design that is light and modular
You can turn features on and off whenever you want.
Yoast SEO: By default, it’s heavier
Has more built-in processes that run in the background.
I said in the video that Rank Math does a little better than Yoast in performance tests for most standard blogs and business sites.
Free vs. Paid: What Beginners Really Get
Rank Math’s Free Version Comes With:
- Multiple keywords
- Schema
- Google Analytics integration
- Image SEO
- Local SEO
- Redirections
- No ads in editor
The free version of Yoast includes:
- ONE focus keyword
- Basic schema
- Readability analysis
- Canonical URL
- XML sitemap
It’s clear that Rank Math gives away a lot more tools for free.
So… Which One Is Really Easier for Newbies?
When you compare the video tutorial to how things work in the real world, the answer becomes clear:
👉 In 2025, Rank Math will be easier for new users.
Not because Yoast is bad—it’s not at all—but because
- The interface is simpler
- Setup is faster
- More features are free
- Multiple keywords are possible
- Schema is built-in
- Everything is visually easy to understand
Rank Math seems easier to use and more complete right away if you’re new to blogging, SEO, or WordPress.
My personal advice (2025)
If you want a plugin that:
- Gives you advanced SEO tools for free
- Works well with new WordPress themes
- Makes it easy to optimize
- Saves time
- Helps you get a higher rank faster
Then Rank Math is the better choice.
But…
If you’re happy with how SEO is working for you right now and don’t mind possibly upgrading down the road, Yoast SEO can still be a solid option.
