Don’t worry if you’ve ever wanted to make your own website for a business, blog, portfolio, or even a small online store but were scared by all the tech jargon. You are in the right place. Building websites has come a long way, especially in 2025. Tools today are smarter, more visual, and surprisingly easy to use for beginners… once you know where to start.
That’s why I’m going to show you everything you need to know about using Wix to make a website. Wix is one of the most trusted website builders in the world. This guide goes through the same steps as my full YouTube tutorial, where I go slowly, clearly, and with pictures. This article is the perfect “companion guide” to the video. It has explanations, real-life examples, and useful tips that you won’t want to miss.
Here’s the video so you can watch the whole process any time you want before we go into more detail:
Here is the full tutorial
Let’s get started on your first Wix website in a professional, confident, and stress-free way.
Why Wix is the Best Option for Newbies in 2025
Wix has changed a lot in the last few years. The simple drag and drop builder has turned into a whole ecosystem of powerful AI tools, advanced editors, eCommerce systems, marketing automation, and dynamic content options.
This is why it is still a great choice for beginners:
- You don’t need coding skills — everything is visual.
- Wix AI Website Builder can generate layouts and content for you.
- Modern templates are already optimized for 2025 design standards.
- eCommerce features like product pages, payments, and cart systems are built-in.
- SEO tools are easier and smarter than ever.
- Mobile responsiveness happens automatically.
Wix is a great place to make a business website or a blog.
Step 1: Getting Started. Making Your Wix Account
The first step in the video is to make your Wix account. And believe me, it only takes a minute.
Here is what you will do:
- Go to Wix.com.
- Click Get Started.
- Sign up using your email, Google account, or Facebook account.
- Once you’re logged in, Wix will ask you what type of website you want to create.
Now the fun starts.
Wix now customizes your dashboard and suggestions based on the type of website you have, such as a business, blog, portfolio, or online store. So, decide what you want to do and then pick the choice that will help you get there.
If you’re just starting out, I suggest you pick either “Business” or “Blog,” depending on what your project is. Based on what you choose, Wix will make tools and templates for you.
Step 2: Picking Wix ADI or Wix Editor
Wix gives you two main ways to build your site, as you’ll see in the video:
Option 1: Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence)
Good for people who are just starting out and want:
- A simple starter website
- Automatic layout creation
- AI generated sections and content.
- Faster setup
You can customize your website right away after ADI asks you a few questions about your business type, goals, and design style.
Option 2: Wix Editor (You Have Full Control)
For me, this is the best option because:
- You get full drag-and-drop control
- You can customize every element
- You can add animations, layouts, and custom sections
I show you how to use Wix Editor in the tutorial video because it’s easier for beginners to use and understand. The Editor is the better choice if you really want to make a site that looks professional.
Step 3: Choosing a Template That Fits Your Purpose
Wix has hundreds of professionally designed and up to date templates. In 2025, they released even newer designs. These designs had clean layouts, styles that worked well on all devices, and structures that were designed to get people to take action.
When you pick a template:
- Think about your niche
- Look at the homepage structure
- Check if the inner pages fit your needs (like About, Services, Contact)
- Make sure the design feels natural for your brand
You can change templates later, but it’s easier if you choose the one that fits your vision right away.
In the video, you can see that I look at a few layouts first and then choose one that is clean, modern, and easy to change.
Step 4: How to Use the Wix Editor to Edit Your Website
When your template loads, you’ll go to the Wix Editor, where you’ll spend most of your time customizing your site.
In the video, I go over the basics:
Tools for the Left Menu
- Menus & Pages – manage your website pages
- Site Design – adjust colors, fonts, and themes
- Add Elements – buttons, text boxes, images, galleries, forms, etc.
- Add Sections – pre-designed blocks for hero areas, services, pricing tables, testimonials
- App Market – install tools like chat widgets, booking apps, email marketing, analytics, and more
Editing Text
Click on any text, type your new text, and change the font, color, and size.
Editing Images
Click the picture, then “Replace Image.” You can either upload your own picture or use Wix’s free library.
Moving Elements
Wix gives you grid lines to help you line everything up, so you can drag and drop freely.
Adding New Sections
This is where your website really takes off.
Wix gives you:
- About sections
- Service blocks
- Contact forms
- Call-to-action banners
- Pricing tables
- Testimonials
- FAQs
- Image galleries
You’ll see me add a hero section, a services section, and a contact block in the video. This shows how simple and visual the process is.
Step 5: Changing the colors, fonts, and your brand
When the branding on a website matches who you are, it becomes “yours.”
Wix added presets in 2025 that make this easy:
Site Themes
You can instantly apply:
- Color palettes
- Text styles
- Buttons
- Headings
Just choose a theme, and the style of your whole website will change.
Brand Kit
If you have:
- A logo
- Business colors
- Brand fonts
You can upload them, and Wix will make designs that go with them.
This makes your website look professional and consistent.
Step 6: Adding the Pages You Need
I show you how to add important pages like these in the tutorial
- Home
- About
- Services / Products
- Blog
- Contact
This is how to do it
- Go to Menus & Pages
- Click Add Page
- Choose Blank Page or use a pre-designed layout
Following that add sections to each page to customize it.
Step 7: Setting Up Mobile View
The mobile editor is one of the best things about Wix, especially in 2025.
This is how you make it better:
- Switch to Mobile View at the top
- Rearrange elements if needed
- Adjust the spacing
- Hide large desktop only elements
Wix automatically makes responsive design better, but small changes can make a big difference in how users feel about it.
Step 8: How to Set Up SEO for Your Website (2025 Best Practices)
Wix has SEO tools built in that make it easy for people who are new to the web to improve their sites.
The video covers these important steps
- Add page titles
- Write meta descriptions
- Customize URLs
- Add alt text to images
- Enable automatic sitemap
- Connect to Google Search Console
- Turn on structured data for key pages
The SEO Wizard from Wix (updated in 2025) can even look at your website and give you real-time tips on how to make it better.
Step 9: Linking a Domain Name and Making Your Site Live
When you’re done making your website,
1. Click Publish.
2. Choose a Wix subdomain (free).
OR connect your own custom domain.
3. Upgrade to a Premium Plan if you want:
- Online payments
- Domain connection
- Ad-free design
- Higher storage
- Professional email
In the video lesson, I talk about which plans are best for you based on your goals.
